Training
The National Association of Travellers' Centres (NATC) offers quality training in youth and community work, leadership, capacity building, and various areas of interest to Travellers and those working with members of Traveller Community.
The following courses are currently on offer:
- Child protection training
"Keeping Safe Child Protection Awareness Training" provided by qualified Children First Trainers
- Leadership training (for youth projects)
Provides youth leaders with the capacity to explore and deliver programmes for young Travellers and other youth
- Resource facilitation skills training
(using the "Voice of the Traveller in the Irish Workplace" DVD)
Resource facilitation skills training for group leaders and those working with Travellers
- STEPS FORWARD Programme
Two year pilot programme for people from the Traveller community
Aim
Our aim is to develop and implement training and support measures that increase the capacity of local community groups, youth workers, volunteers, staff, management and individuals interested in learning more about the Traveller Community.
The National Association of Travellers' Centres subscribes to the belief that education, formal or informal is paramount to the development of the individual and is critical to the integration and inclusion of members of the Traveller community in Irish society. To this end, NATC places a strong emphasis on the content and quality of its training.
